Presentation Guidelines

Oral Presentations

Trainee presentation sessions will accommodate between five and seven 15-minute talks (12 minutes for presentation with 3 minutes for questions). Please note that talks by undergraduates are encouraged and will be given full consideration for inclusion in each oral session. Please be aware of time limits to ensure all presenters have their full allocation.

Poster Presentations

Poster boards are 40 x 60 inches and in most cases will be oriented vertically. Posters must fit on these boards. Consider using a colorblind-friendly palette for figures. Poster setup begins Friday evening, with the session running from 8:00-11:00 PM. Easels, push pins, and poster numbers will be provided. Odd-numbered posters present from 8:00-9:30 PM, then even-numbered posters from 9:30-11:00 PM. Presenters are encouraged to remain by their posters during the entire session for judging and discussion. Posters may remain up overnight and be removed Saturday morning.

Technical Requirements

The main hall will be equipped with LCD projectors, microphones, and laptop connections. Presentations should be in PowerPoint, Keynote, or PDF formats. Presenters for each session will test their slides prior to the session start on a shared computer. USB backup drives are recommended.

Presentation Tips

You'll be presenting to a diverse audience ranging from undergraduates to senior faculty - it's challenging but exciting! Focus on clear explanations of your key findings rather than exhaustive methodology. The RRM provides a supportive environment where genuine curiosity and your enthusiasm drives great discussions. Embrace the questions and feedback as they often lead to valuable connections and new perspectives on your work. Most of all, have fun!
